Turtles

This piece incorporates many details and references throughout the different iterations of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I wanted to pay homage to the live action movies I grew up with in the 90’s, but also throw in some design philosophy from the other films, cartoons, and related characters. I also incorporated references to other characters not shown, and designed a Pizza Company’s logo that is run by Bebop and Rocksteady!

Recently, I have been obsessed with the Zelda games on Nintendo Switch, and imagined that these teenagers would probably be fans as well. I wanted them all in a relaxed state, between battles where they are relaxed in the safety of their sewer apartment.

Spider VS. Spot

Immediately after getting out of the theater from watching “Across the Spiderverse” I had a very strong urge to draw!

I came home right after and started working on my image dedicated to the brilliance of this series of films. I wanted this piece to be chaotic but to also showcase a large amount of different spider people from different universes. Additionally, I wanted to do something fun utilizing the portal technology from Spot. Of course, I packed the illustration with various references and details.

-The upper right is from the re-design I created for Spider-man’s suit

-Spider Woman appears to be riding a motorcycle from a whole other universe…

-The Mech/ Master Chief looking one is of my own design as well.

If you dig this image, prints are available in the store!

Mando

In honor of the premiere of Season 3 of The Mandalorian, I illustrated this image as a companion piece to the Boba Fett I did a few years back.

This is the way…

Thor: Ragnarok

An illustration I submitted for the Thor: Ragnarok challenge on talenthouse.com // One of the very first visuals that stuck in my head was from the initial trailer of the movie. The side shot of Thor soaring down the bridge, lightning raining down behind him, on his way to bring annihilation to the dead army! I decided to take this shot, detach the camera, and move the angle into the crowd for a completely new perspective. I included Korg and Miek for a bit of comedic relief as well. The result is a chaotically focused image of our favorite God of thunder!

Red Right Hand : A Hellboy Comic Cover

Were someone to ask me what I would draw on the cover of a Hellboy comic, this would be my response. I also included a version that notes Mignola (one of my favorite artists) and I working together, just for fun.

Batkid

Many of my close friends have been building families lately. This piece was inspired by childhood, and how you could be anything and think anything, given a few pieces of cardboard and tape.

Spider

As I’ve grown up, I’ve drawn Spider-Man a few times. Admittedly, I’ve always thought the traditional design was pretty tedious, drawing all of those webs. I decided to take it upon myself to design my own suit. One that livens up the drawing hand and is a bit more expressive. Of course, this “Spider-verse season” is the best time to contemplate alternate design! Go see it if you haven’t!!

Laura- Digital Painting from Logan

I decided to study some digital painting techniques using a still from one of my new favorite movies “Logan”.

Shadow of The Colossus: Art Book Submission

I had the honor of being selected as a featured artist in: Art Inspired By: Shadow Of the Colossus by Playstation Europe. It was curated by the very talented Matt Taylor (who created the beautiful cover!) This piece represents so much of my youth, and I was excited to hear I made the cut!

This was one of the first times I enjoyed a video game where I felt that the medium could swap out the typical run and gun explosion aesthetic, in exchange for a more serene, immersive, and artistic experience. I didn’t realize at the time how much this game would influence both my work and my view of video games as an art form. Now the game has been given a fresh coat of paint by Blue Point Games and I’m excited to jump back in!

Deadpool Comic Book Cover

I had an idea that one day I will be tasked with designing a cover for a comic book. Here’s what my response would be if this were the case for Deadpool.

“Finish What You Started” Kylo Ren digital painting

This is a digital speed painting I did based on a scene/ character from Star Wars the Force Awakens.

Pan's Labyrinth (El Laberinto Del Fauno)

I submitted this piece for an art book made by a company known as “Printed in Blood”. They specialize in combining Fan art submissions into hard bound art books that sell worldwide.

I’ve always been a fan of Guillermo Del Toro’s work. His imagination is unmatched in the industry. The way he uses creatures and practical effects to push a story forward is truly admirable to me. I’d like to be him when I grow up.

Apparently this particular book is going to be curated by Guillermo himself! The fact that he will be seeing my artwork is an honor in and of itself!

Deadpool- Pinching One Off

This was a project I made for myself in anticipation of the new movie about the “Merc with a mouth.” I wanted to depict him in a very vulnerable yet humorous moment.

If you look close there are various references to local Denver bands and cultural icons in the form of Sharpie scrawling on the bathroom walls.

Spider-Man (Civil War)

I featured this print at Denver Comic Con 2016. At the con I was fortunate enough to have a fan that bought a print and went to get it signed by Stan Lee!

I Am Spider-Man

My mother found an old letter that I had written to my future self. Most of it was asking if I was happy or if I had a girlfriend (even asking if the supposed liked Spider-Man). I decided to respond with a drawing of me swinging through the streets of Denver, clearly on a solo mission to save a damsel in distress.

The Last Laugh

The other morning I woke up with a vision of this image in my head. I pictured a scenario where our caped crusader finally gets fed up with his arch-nemesis and kicking him in the chest plunges them both to their deaths. The type of Batman I wanted to use was inspired by Frank Miller’s “The Dark Knight Returns”.

Additionally, I also pictured a night time, watercolor aesthetic. This illustration is 100% digital.

Boba Fett: At Rest

I realized that I used to draw this character obsessively as a kid. Much of the motivation behind this piece was to see how I would draw this famous Bounty Hunter now that I'm older. Because there is so much action and story happening within the Star Wars universe, I thought it would be interesting to show some of the characters in more restful states.
